July 1, 2009 Tax Collection 2nd Half

The Manitowoc County Treasurer, Cheryl M. Duchow, is reminding
taxpayers that July 31st is just around the corner and this means the
last installment of your real estate taxes is due.  Access to the
Manitowoc County website, www.manitowoc-county.com is available in
confirming your amount of taxes due.  Please contact the Manitowoc
County Treasurer’s Office if you are unsure of the amount of taxes
due.  If your primary residence is not receiving a lottery credit, or
the status of your primary residence has changed, please contact the
County Treasurer before the October 1st late lottery credit filing
date.  Please make all payments due to “Manitowoc County Treasurer”.  
Any personal property taxes due are paid to your local municipal
treasurer.

There are several options available to pay the second installment of
your real estate taxes:

Tuesday thru Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Along with your check, please mail in the 2nd installment tax stub
with your payment to assure that your payment is applied to the
correct parcel.  Make certain that your payment is postmarked by July
31st.   Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope when
requesting a receipt.

The above banks are able to take collections during their normal hours
of operation.  They are only able to take the current year tax
payment.  If you have delinquent taxes, you will need to make that
payment to the County Treasurer’s Office.

•	By Credit Card:  The County Treasurer’s Office is unable to take
credit card payments at the office.    You may utilize the Official
Payments credit card service to pay your taxes by telephone or
personal computer.  You need to know the amount you want to pay.  
There is a service fee based on the amount you are paying.  Any
payment made in this manner would be applied to the oldest tax first. 
 American Express, MasterCard, Discover and Visa are accepted.  The
phone number is 1-800-272-9829.  The web address is
www.officialpayments.com  (At the prompt, enter Jurisdiction Code
5827) You can also find a link to Official Payments from Manitowoc
County’s web page at www.manitowoc-county.com - click on Real Estate
Taxes.

•	By Drop-off Box:    Box is located in the parking lot north of the
County Jail just off of 9th Street.  Please place payment in an
envelope.


Delinquent taxes are assessed a 1% per month penalty according to
Wisconsin State Statutes.  

If you live within the City of Manitowoc or the City of Two Rivers,
please make current tax installment payments at respective city halls:
 City of Manitowoc, Manitowoc City Hall, 900 Quay Street in Manitowoc,
or City of Two Rivers at Two Rivers City Hall, 1717 East Park Street
in Two Rivers.
